Chrysalis has been very lucky to have this computer whiz volunteering his time to help our clients learn important skills to apply for jobs. Russ is a software developer by trade, but has been utilizing his spare time to give back to the community by helping our clients develop their computer skills and, sometimes, learn to use a computer for the first time!
“I live downtown and I felt compelled to do something about the problems I see all around me. Chrysalis allows me to directly help neighbors in need.”
Volunteering with Chrysalis has given Russ an opportunity to directly help the underserved in his community, allowing him to see first-hand the changes he is making in people’s lives.
“The best part of volunteering with Chrysalis is that I get to teach a pragmatic, concrete skill to clients that helps them rise above their current circumstances. I have met clients that have never been on the internet before, and one client was incarcerated for 28 years and had never used a computer before the week I met him. Seeing that man start to search online for jobs after working with him made me feel like I made a difference.”
Having been with Chrysalis for nearly a year, Russ has helped more than 500 individuals gain a better understanding of computers and the internet. Thank you, Russ, for helping our clients learn more about this valuable resource!
