Without a stable place to shower and clean up, searching for and holding down a job can be incredibly challenging. Personal hygiene products alone can cost an individual over $85 per month—an expense that many of our clients simply cannot afford. By providing hygiene kits, you help remove a small but significant barrier on the path to self-sufficiency.

Menstrual Care Kits

Access to menstrual hygiene products is a critical yet often unmet need. Menstrual Care Kits give clients peace of mind and help individuals who may lack the resources to purchase these items stay clean, comfortable, and confident as they focus on achieving their professional goals.

Menstrual care products cost around $20 per cycle, adding to the financial strain our clients already navigate each day. Worrying about affording these essentials—on top of searching for a job—is an unnecessary stressor. Providing menstrual care kits through Chrysalis is a simple yet powerful way to offer dignity, relief, and the support women need to focus on their professional success.

Frequently Asked Questions

Individuals and groups organizing a care kit donation and assembling project most often set goals of making between 50 to 500 kits. Because of distribution and storage capacity, Chrysalis recommends limiting the number of kits prepared and donated to a maximum of 500 kits. There is not a required minimum number of kits.

This allows our team to prepare to receive your donation and track potential incoming kits that will be available for our client services and outreach teams.

Yes, please use new, travel-size products to assemble care kits. This ensures that the kits are easier for someone who may be experiencing housing instability to transport. All items should be new and in original packaging. This includes items like toothbrushes, which should be individually wrapped for hygiene.

Thank you for your motivation to do more, but please do not add extra items or substitute items.

You may choose to include a note of encouragement in your kits. Do not place notes in sealed envelopes.

Examples of appropriate notes of encourage are:

“You are stronger than you know. More capable than you ever dreamed. And you are loved more than you could imagine.”

“A goal often seems impossible until it’s done.”

“There’s something in you that the world needs.”
