Chrysalis is committed to respecting the privacy of our donors. We have developed this privacy policy to ensure our donor information is protected and will not be shared with any third party. All information concerning donors or prospective donors, including their names, addresses, and telephone numbers, the names of their beneficiaries, the amount of their gift, etc., shall be kept strictly confidential by Chrysalis, our staff, and volunteers, unless permission is obtained from donors to release such information.
Chrysalis will not sell or share donor information collected both online and offline.
The types of donor information that Chrysalis collects and maintains include:
- Contact information: name, address, telephone number, and email address
- Giving information
- Information on events attended, publications received, and special requests for program information
- Information provided by the donor in the form of comments and suggestions
Chrysalis uses donors’ information to understand our donors’ interests in Chrysalis’ mission and to provide updates on the organization’s plans and activities. It is shared with staff, Board members, volunteers, and consultants only on a “need-to-know” basis.
Chrysalis assures donors that their names and addresses will not be shared with any third party unless permission has been granted.
When a donor makes a financial contribution to Chrysalis using a credit card, the credit card information provided by the donor is stored in a confidential manner. Chrysalis employees may access such information only when there is an appropriate reason to do so, such as when a refund must be issued back to the credit card. Chrysalis maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect donor credit card information, and our employees are required to follow these privacy standards.
Confidentiality Policy
Staff, Board members, and volunteers involved in fundraising often are privy to personal information about a donor’s giving history, family, wealth, and assets. They understand it is vital to donors and the organization that they keep this information confidential, as is detailed in the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice and Donor Bill of Rights. All of our staff, board members, and volunteers read and sign a confidentiality policy agreement. Violation of this policy would be grounds for discipline and/or removal of the offending individuals from their positions within the organization.
