Kenya has a heart for serving people. After years of working in education, providing in-home care, and holding multiple customer service roles, she was laid off from her job during the 2020 pandemic.
While supporting her partner’s business, she learned about Chrysalis. Dedicated to embark on a new journey of transformation, she joined our program and was paired with the unwavering support of her employment specialist.

After working with our staff and volunteers to hone her computer skills, put together a professional resume, and practice for interviews, Kenya was referred to a job fair event where she secured an interview with one of our hiring partners, SP+ parking.
With her natural charisma and professional attire from our resource room, Kenya got the job.
Kenya stayed in touch with her employment specialist, who later connected her to a position with National Health Foundation. Despite her initial hesitation to work in a client-facing role, she embraced the opportunity to grow personally and professionally.

Today, Kenya is known for being a reliable Guest Services Associate and coworker that everyone can count on. She monitors cameras throughout the facility, delivers food and fresh linens to clients who are recovering from hospital stays, and helps maintain the overall morale of the facility.
Kenya’s efforts do not go unnoticed. Clients and staff alike commend her for her excellent service, and their appreciation fuels her commitment to her role.

Reflecting on her journey, Kenya emphasizes the importance of never giving up. She encourages others facing similar challenges to take advantage of the resources and help available at Chrysalis. She also looks forward to celebrating her one-year anniversary in her role this coming August!
