Lawrence’s story is remarkable. With guidance and empowerment from Chrysalis, he was able to overcome years of homelessness and become self-sufficient by gaining steady employment.
But Lawrence’s story doesn’t end there. Once he was able to secure his situation with a stable job and place to live, he decided it was time to give back – especially to struggling youth – a group he once belonged to.
While keeping his full-time day job, Lawrence is pursuing his creative talents and helping youth in South Los Angeles learn about art and self-expression. He has been painting large murals on buildings throughout the city and encourages the local neighborhood kids to participate. You can also see Lawrence at Watts Tower on the weekends where he exhibits his own work and at the
Watts Century Latino Organization, where he teaches youth art classes.
